GEORGENE KAMMLER TALLANT

My First Forty Years (as reported in Panther Tracks 1995)

I went to San Jose State University and majored in Business Administration. There I married Stan “The Man” Tallant, the center on the San Jose State football team.

We have two children: a girl who is now an attorney, and a boy who works for the United States Postal Service. There are no grandchildren yet.

I was an administrative assistant at Humboldt State University for two years while getting my Masters in Business Administration and my secondary teaching credential. I also taught in the Business Department for two years.

My husband retired from teaching / football coaching last year, but I’m still going at it as a high school business / computer lab teacher for Eureka City Schools. The only thing that makes me feel my age is that lately some of my students are children of former students! As a response occasionally from a very angry student, being called an expletive doesn’t bother me nearly as much as being called an “Old Hag.”

Update June 2005

The photo above was taken at my 68th birthday party.

We are traveling a lot – living in Reno half the year, and visiting our grandchildren at my grandmother’s old house in San Mateo.

(Editor’s note: Georgene’s update was sent on custom stationery created by classmate Dixie Eason McCarthy for our 40th reunion. The stationery featured the Bordens’ Dairy Delivery Company, located on the SE corner of California Drive and Howard Avenue.)
