John Grens yearbook biography reads:
"John enjoyed hunting and working on his car when he wasn't working after school or on Saturdays. His school activities included membership in the Mechanical Drawing Club, Scholarship Society, and Drama Commission. The next four years will find John on the campus of University of California at Berkeley studying engineering."

(3 February 2010). Years ago one of our classmates gave an unequivocal statement that John moved to the east coast and had died. At that time, the SSDI* did not list any Grens that matched his profile.

However, (04 Feb 2010) SSDI now lists a John Z. Grens; b. 03 Jan 1938; d. 29 Apr 1997; SSA card issued (1951) in California; SSN 552-46-5279.

The California Birth Index, 1905-1995 lists John Zolvah Grens; born in San Francisco.

The California Marriage Index, 1960-1985, lists John Z. Grens and Barbara A. Mains married 17 March 1960, in San Mateo (County?).

The Georgia Deaths (Index), 1919-98, lists John Z. Grens, County of Death and County of Residence: Henry County GA.

The U.S. Public Records Index lists John Z. Grens at the following locations:

Classmate Reed Baird(70), retired from the Lawrence Livermore Lab (LLL), confirms that John worked at the Lab and recalls that John was a chemical engineer.

Other Internet Citations: John Z. Grens is a co-author of a technical paper dated September 1982 and presented to the Sixth International Symposium on the Scientific Basis for Radioactive Waste Management.

The Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A in Nov 1987 published an article c0-authored by John Z. Grens of the University of California, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore CA 94550.
